Our Wedding

I've beenwaiting to post until we got some photos back, but it doesn't seem that we're going to have those for a while, so here you go...

We got married on Saturday, September 27 2008 at the Belmont Hotel in Dallas, Texas.

It was not only the best weekend of our lives because we got married, but also because we got to spend time with so many wonderful people. We are overwhelmed when we think of how so many of our friends and family worked countless hours to make our weekend so perfectly special and beautiful!

Thursday: While JD and his Mom had some hang out time at dinner and spent the evening looking at family and baby photos, my ladies and I celebrated the end of bachelorette status. Meme, Elena, Isbella, Vicki, Monya, Tiffany, Amie and Jennifer had drinks and a lingerie shower before heading to dinner at my all time favorite restaurant, Hattie's. Some lovely ladies, Jaimee, Lori, Annie and Jessie also hosted a lingerie shower for me in Colorado, so I am set with pretty night time clothes.

Friday: We started the day with manicures and pedicures which wasn't the best idea since we planted ourselves in Meme's kitchen for the rest of the day prepping the flowers. This involved pulling leaves and thorns off of 250 stems of roses and leaves off of countless stems of berries.

Then we packed up all the flowers and headed to the hotel to get ready for our rehearsal dinner. It was so hot during the day, but the evening turned out to be beautiful. Everybody was super cooperative, so we wrapped up the rehearsal quickly and only little Colbie had a couple of last questions. Our awesome Minister, Darrell, was explaining that after the ceremony the staff would quickly transition the tables and chairs for the reception and asked that everybody shift out of their way and help themselves to a drink. Then he asked if anybody had any questions and here's what went down...Colbie said, "I do! So when everybody gets a drink, that's when the party starts?" HA!!! We were all rolling. Then she said, "Ok, well I'll be the one that's in charge of the boys when they get in trouble!" I just had to document that! She is hilarious! She has clearly gotten this boy thing figured out!

We had a wonderful time visiting with all of our special guests!

The Big Day: It's FINALLY HERE!!!! We're getting married!

Everybody, and I mean everybody was running around all day working so hard to make everything SO SPECIAL and absolutely perfect! It was so heart warming to see everybody working so hard just because they love us! We can never thank you all enough!

JD and I decided that we wanted some time together before everything got started. Time for just the two of us. WHOA! I was not expecting to be so emotional when I saw him for the first time. It was intense! We just had some time alone and our photographer, Gisela, was there to capture it all. It was the best feeling to be together knowing that we were about to get married!

Then it was time for the ceremony! Since JD and I had already seen each other, we were both pretty calm. I think my Dad was more nervous than I was! I was really glad to have some time with my Dad before the ceremony started. I realized I hadn't eaten anything, so he fed me a granola bar so I didn't get my dress dirty. So sweet!

Everybody says that it goes by so quickly, but I never realized how quickly. Darrell, our Minister, was awesome and kept reminding us to remember each moment. I just kept thinking, "Oh my gosh! We're getting married!" Then it was over! It was so beautiful!

As Mr. and Mrs. Patterson, it was time for us to celebrate with our guests! Everybody looked so great and everybody was ready to party! We have to say a huge thank you to my Mom, Amie and Scott for their beautiful toasts. We know it's not easy to speak in front of so many people, but we sincerely thank you for kind words! Everybody enjoyed our beautiful lemon blueberry cake and my Grandma Trula's homemade pecan pies! Yes, homemade!

Then we all danced the night away! The dance floor wasn't big, but we all packed in and shook our groove things all night! It was SO FUN and it was everything and more than I ever imagined!

This has been long, but this is really just the short version of the best weekend of our lives! It doesn't even come close to capturing the feeling, emotion, work and fun that was had by all that weekend. We will never forget it!

Reason Why

Well, I've decided to blog and I'm pretty excited about it!

J.D. and I are so fortunate...we have amazing family and friends, we live in Colorado and we have each other. All of these blessings make for some pretty wonderful memories. Our great-grandparents and grandparents would have just made photo albums and written some letters, but in our digital age I've decided to record our memories in a blog.

We thank you all and each other for helping us create these awesome memories!
